I'm a registered partially sighted recumbent trike rider. I don't drive and cycling is my primary form of transport. I have poor general eyesight and my main difficulty is lack of peripheral vision particularly below the horizontal.
I started riding a recumbent trike through choice but have since found that it mitigates my peripheral vision problem pretty well compared to riding an upright bike. I am able to walk but if I'm going far I usually use a stick to detect kerb edges, holes, litter bins, obstructions, etc.
I'll generally be covering 7000 miles per year by cycle between commuting to work, holidays on the trike and weekend riding and riding distances up to 100 miles per day when up to full fitness.
