I am a stroke survivor of some 8 years. I had my stroke when I was 54. It has affected my left side and has rendered me unable to ride a two wheeled cycle.
Thankfully I have made a pretty good recovery from my stroke. I have been left with what I believe is called a 'hidden impairment'. This doesn't prevent me from pushing a pedal round, providing I have my foot securely clipped to the pedal, to prevent it slipping off.
Incidentally I have been getting so much verbal abuse from impatient motorists that it is beginning to affect my confidence and I am reluctantly coming to the conclusion that my days of riding on the 'open' road are drawing to a close.
If only those thoughtless divers would consider the affect their hasty words can have on someone whose sole means of independence is the cycle.
