CycleStreets' mission is to promote increased cycling by helping give people information about good routes. More cycling means a better environment, healthier lifestyles and a more efficient transport network.

Development of this app has been made possible thanks to grants by two organisations who share these aims. These grants helped fund the initial development costs of the app and enabled us to speed up the routing engine to a speed expected by mobile users for all platforms.

Rees Jeffreys Road Fund logo The Rees Jeffreys Road Fund is a charitable trust offering grants in the field of road transport for education, research or physical projects. They generously provided a grant of £5,000.
Cycle Cambridge logo Cycle Cambridge is the name for the group within Cambridgeshire County Council who work to improve cycling in Cambridgeshire. Their grant of £2,000 to the project recognises our common aims of promoting safe and more cycling.

We are extremely grateful to both for their help, and to the developer of version 1.0 of the app Alan Paxton (Isomaly Ltd) who undertook the work at well below a commercial rate in support of CycleStreets' work. Subsequent versions have been developed by Neil Edwards, and we are extremely grateful to him for his ongoing work.

CycleStreets is a route planner for cyclists, by cyclists.

Made possible by OpenStreetMap open data: all the data is open data collected by people (often by bike) around the country. Often brilliantly comprehensive!

OpenStreetMap is the brilliant 'geo-wiki' to which you also can contribute. Note that, at present, some areas of the country have better coverage than others. Routing quality is being developed all the time, with new types of cycling and street data being added and interpreted by the route planner.

Feedback on planned routes is very welcome, as the routing system is under continual development.

Please use our feedback system, and include the journey number in your message.

We can then pass route problems on to our OpenStreetMap contacts where the error is a data problem.

We welcome your feedback, especially to report bugs or give us route feedback.
